The Fina 2016 world swimming championships will be held in Windsor in two weeks. The organizing committee for the event has approached the Greater Essex County District School Board to create a 3-D printed gift that is Canadian and is representative of swimming events. We have designed and created a 3-D printed Adirondack chair so that the medallists can place their winning medals on the chair and display it on their shelf or desk or mantle when they get home. Recommended for TCJ4M1 - Construction Technology Roof Framing Project. Can possibly be completed with a skilled, well experienced, ambitiousTCJ3M1 class. In this project students will learn how to "Solve a Roof". Using just a framing square, students in groups will layout, and then cut the rafters and other components required to cap their building, all while working on the ground - no trial and error in place. They will then have to correctly and safely assemble all those components into a completed structure. One of the greatest skills that students can learn is how to apply general knowledge, for instance safety awareness, to a specific project. In construction there are typically multiple ways of doing any specific task- each of which has implications as to safety, cost, finished result, time required, etc. A critical skill for students to develop is the ability to continually assess tasks from multiple perspectives and make good decisions. This multiple week activity is also a confirmation of student safety understanding through a full production process.

This resource includes five booklets in which students record the activities they complete.
TDJ2O - Construction of a small mitrebox - this is an extension project for high achieving students. It would be completed over 10, 70 minute periods. High achieving students (approx 5 per class) build a mitre box and instruct other students how to use it. Refer to the red content in the materials provided as additional teacher info built in to the handouts and resources specifically relating to DI / MI / IEP students. The mitre box project is for exceptional high-functioning students who wish to work with non-standard angles and who have a particular passion for doing high quality work. This project also allows students to see and experience that tools to get a job done more efficiently and accurately can be conceived, designed and built by the workers themselves. This gives the students a sense that, in the workplace, the worker is not just a cog in the machinery, but rather, a profoundly important factor in continuous improvement.

As part of our commitment to social responsibility and community support, OCTE was proud to dedicate our annual charitable donation to this outstanding organization.
This unit introduces students to the concept of an ergonomically designed work space and repetitive strain injuries. Assignment and activities should take 3, 70 minute periods to complete. Students examine ergonomically designed work spaces as well as research exercises and prevention methods of repetitive strain injury. They will be able to identify proper posture, lighting and equipment placement. Students will also have an introduction to available design software like Photoshop. Students will research and produce a poster depicting safe practices in the computer lab.

OCTE"s 2019 Conference will be held from May 9th - 11th. To request a proposal to present, please follow the link to the required form.
TGJ3 - Students creatively utilize safe, easy-to-find, found / recycled materials to create characters with simple tools (glue guns) and then animate an environmentally-themed story with digital cameras and stop-motion techniques, assembled in Adobe Premiere editing software. This can be done as a whole class group project, or in smaller groups of 3-4 students. Advanced extensions may also include green-screening techniques for compositing, and original music creation in Adobe Audition software, recording of voices and original sound effects or use of a sound effects library. Project names have also been, "Lost and Found" and "Ecomation" in the past. Brainstorming, problem-solving, recognition of materials that are safe to use, decision-making, digital camera use, edit software skills.
ELEMENTARY Teacher Guideline For Designing Elementary Student Handouts
Starting in 2019, Ontario will adopt the Red Seal model for the hairstylist trade, giving individuals the ability to obtain a Red Seal Endorsement on their Certificate of Qualification as a 332A Hairstylist.

Matt Daudlin motioned to accept report as written, seconded by Derek Webster AIF Financial Report - Bob Fularski A typo was noted - the date in the Financial Report printed in the AGM Agenda booklet states “December 1st 2017” - content is correct but date is incorrect and needed to be changed Michael Scott motioned to accept report with the change as noted, seconded by Medhat Tadrus AIF Report from Board of Directors - Aldo Cianfrini Dave Graves, Aldo Cianfrini and Dario Rossit made up the interim BOD. One of their mandates was to recruit BOD members for the organization (OCTE). New members have been approached and names submitted to the OCTE Executive which have formed the 2018-2019 OCTE Board of Directors. With respect to the new Board of Directors, Dave Graves volunteered to Chair and Audrey Cartile will be the recording secretary. Dario Rossit was formally thanked and recognized for his time and dedication, providing direction and his eagle eye in paying attention to details. A minor change was stated in relation to South Studio 1 and South Studio 2 for the Saturday morning workshops. Adjournment Bob Fularski motioned to adjourn the AGM, seconded by Reg Ellis AIF
