Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) | Lakehead Public Schools

These Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) resources have been created to help students earn their SHSM Red Seal diploma requirements, including Certifications, Sector-Partnered Contextualized Experiences (SPCE), Reach Ahead Activities and Co-operative Education credits in online learning, blended learning or in-class environments.

How to Use These Resources

Majority of the resources that have been created are Google Sites and require you as a teacher to make a copy of the site in order to bring it into your school boards domain. This also allows you to customize the assessments so that they can be submitted to you.

Please note that a google account is required to create your own copy of the site. If you do not have a google account, you can create one here. Once you have created your own version of the site and published the site, it will be accessible to all of your students with or without having a google account as it is the same as visiting any website.

Considerations for Use

You might consider utilizing these resources collaboratively by creating one version of the google sites that can be used by your entire school board, region of schools, school or just multiple teachers. This may be more efficient than each teacher creating their own site, given that this group of teachers collaborates well together. You may also use these resources in the D2L Brightspace environment by simply including links to the various modules or entire sites in your Brightspace course where appropriate. You are also able to copy and customize the assessment tools into your course, or you could create an entire Brightspace course for a specific certification by copying the content of the sites. We truly hope you find these online resources valuable and engaging for your SHSM students! You may also visit our Experiential Learning resource site for a number of other relevant SHSM resources.
