industry affiliates

Industry partners often ask...what are they learning in the schools now? How can we get them to match what we need in the field to what they actually teach?

OCTE welcomes industry participation and input. Our goal is to connect industry partners with tech educators to increase understanding of current safety standards and training practices from the real world and bring real-life industry experience into the classroom.

As an OCTE industry affiliate, you can review the teaching materials and provide feedback to educators in your community.

You can connect with your local school through tours of real life scenarios, work demonstration sites, guest speakers, and welcome OYAP apprenticeship placements and business co-op opportunities and internships.

You can learn about tie-ins to colleges and university programs and dual-credit programs. OCTE is committed to changing the perception of apprenticeship training, helping parents and guidance counsellors realize that workplace and tech training can be the best pathway for many learners. Apprenticeship is post-secondary education!

You can find out about conferences, seminars and information available through the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labour, and Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development.

OCTE respects the Red Seal Certificate of Qualification and appreciates the work of the Ontario College of Trades in developing the journeypeople of tomorrow.
