Technological Education Honours Specialist-Online Course

This has certainly been an interesting and challenging year. As summer approaches, many educators start thinking about taking an additional qualification. Just as day-to-day teaching adapted to the covid-19 situation, so has AQ delivery. The Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) will be offering the Technological Education Honours Specialist this summer. The delivery will be fully online, and the course will run from the 19th of June until the 16th of July. This course requires 125 hours and will be delivered from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The online delivery is broken down as follows:

55 hours synchronous online learning via Zoom

45 hours asynchronous online learning

25 hours assignments and independent study

To be able to enroll you must meet the following prerequisites:

  1. Certificate of Qualification:
    Your current Ontario College of Teachers' Certificate of Qualification or Interim Certificate of Qualification must show:

·         Grade 9/10 and 11/12 qualifications in one area

PLUS

o    Two additional 9/10 Technology Qualification

OR

o    One additional 9/10 Technology Qualification

o    And one of the following Additional Qualification courses: 

o    Computer Studies – Computer Technology

o    Leadership en milieu minoritaire

o    Science and Technology, Grades 7 and 8

o    Actualisation linguistique en français / Perfectionnement du français, Part I

o    Co-operative Education, Part I

o    Design and Technology, Part I

o    English as a Second Language, Part I

o    Guidance and Career Education, Part I

o    Integration of Information and Computer Technology in Instruction, Part I

o    Special Education, Part I

  1. One Year Post-Secondary:
    One year post-secondary that required:
    • Grade 12 admission, OR
    • 600-700 hours of accumulated apprenticeship related college blocks, OR 
    • One year in an approved Hairstylist school prior to apprenticeship (official transcripts must be provided)
  2. Certificate of Teaching Experience
    Evidence of at least two (2) years of successful teaching experience, including one (1) year of experience in Technological Education. This experience must be certified by the appropriate Supervisory Officer on the OISE Certificate of Teaching Experience Form.

The cost of this course is $780 and the application Deadline is June 10, 2020, 11:59 pm.
