Program description
Brock University’s Technological Education Teacher Education program (Bachelor or Certificate of Education) provides candidates with the professional education necessary to become certified teachers in Ontario. The program begins in January and July each year and is 16 months in duration. It is comprised of four terms, delivered in a blended format. All students must be available to begin in January or July, depending on which intake was applied for. Three in school teaching practicums (comprised of a total of 80 days) must also be completed. Successful candidates may elect to continue working while attending this program during the online portions. In class attendance is mandatory during the face to face component of the program.
The Technological Education program is competitive, and admission is not guaranteed with attainment of minimum admission requirements. Assessment is based on your academics, proof of competency in a technical area, and documented wage-earning work experience. Subsequent to this, you may be asked to interview before selections are made. All graduates will achieve a single subject BBT basic qualification in Grades 9 and 10, and Grades 11 and 12, allowing them to teach at the secondary level in their area of expertise.
