communications committee

Our main purpose is communicating OCTE's mission and activities to both OCTE members and potential members and the wider community through tools such as this website, newsletters, social media, presentations to teachers and school board administrator, and special projects such as the May conference program. Topics for content development have included health and safety, the role of technology teachers, 21st century learning, and the benefits of membership.

As OCTE represents technological education to the Ministry of Education and the College of Teachers, a vital component to our marketing and communications strategy is our membership. This is accomplished by supporting existing members by providing information and access to resources and the recruitment of new members, both educators and industry partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor the website and flag past-dated material and information
  • Collect, collate, and review images to be used on the site
  • Collect, collate, and review submissions for the resource sections
  • Collect, create, collate, and review submissions for the newsfeed
  • Maintain and promote the social media feeds (Twitter, Facebook)
  • Perform outreach and promote OCTE (e.g. contact other subject associations and professional organizations)
  • Work and coordinate with other committees as needed

As with many non-profit organizations, our strength is in our volunteer base. If you are interested in being involved and making a difference via the communications committee, please click here to contact the Communications Vice-chair via email.
